The second day of the counselling witnessed far fewer delays and was completed ahead of schedule. In the day two counselling 212 candidates selected seats across 28 science faculties. The technical problems which caused lengthy delays on the first day were eliminated to a large extent on day two. University officials were of the opinion that courses which were on the decline such as Geology and Sericulture witnessed a minor revival.

Officials added that admissions to courses which have fewer intake were almost full. Speaking to Deccan Herald, the officer in-charge of admissions, Professor K Eresi said “We have 12 students who have admitted themselves to Geology and six students for Sericulture. These were courses which in the previous years had absolutely no takers.” He added that according to early trends, the Master’s course in bio-technology which was hugely popular among students was witnessing a downward trend.

The counselling for the science courses will continue on Tuesday, as Monday will be a holiday on account of Ramzan. The morning session on Tuesday will commence at 8 am with counselling for ranks 61 to 120 followed by counselling for ranks 121 to 200 during the afternoon session. Admissions for science subjects will end on Wednesday with counselling for ranks above 201. The university will announce the counselling schedule for arts subjects on Wednesday.
