The channel had organised a special community viewing of three prime time shows – Balika Vadhu, Uttaran and Jai Shri Krishna. Following this, a quiz was also organised on these same shows. Ten children who gave the correct answers were selected, and they joined ten other kids for an opportunity to meet the little TV stars. It was an evening filled with laughter, fun and games. The Dharavi children were elated and excited to meet the two little leading ladies of the show.
Speaking about the experience, little Ichcha, who plays the role of a maid’s daughter in the show Uttaran, said, “It is so much fun here. They all want to talk to me and play with me. I am happy to have made so many new friends today. They are children just like Tapasya and Ichcha. And like Ichcha, they have big dreams and aspirations. I feel like I’m meeting so many Ichchas today.”
Adding to this, Tapasya said, “It is so nice to see so many people who have come to meet us. It makes very happy to know that they like Uttaran and the roles we both play. These children are so much fun to talk to. I hope I get to meet them and many more children like them again. This is a wonderful experience.” All the residents of Dharavi assembled on the streets to get a glimpse of the girls.
The excitement of the crowd knew no bounds when Ichcha and Tapasya spoke to all of them.

‘I wish the show had carried on’

The actors of long-running and successful show Saath Phere are extremely nostalgic about the serial going off-air.  The actors, who have been associated with the soap for a long time share some of their experiences in a series of interviews.  Excerpts from an interview with Surekha Sikri

You have been associated with Saath Phere for a long time. How do you feel with the soap coming to an end?
I wish it had carried on but we can’t do much about these things.

Was it the right time for the show to end?
I can’t comment on the time. Hope it had just taken a break and had come back.

Which is the one incident that happened on the sets of this long running show that you will always remember?
There is no such incident, which I can remember. But the show had a nice bunch of actors.

What would you like to say to the team of Saath Phere and your fans?
Hope that another good show comes up and the fans keep watching the show.

Keep guessing

For all the die-hard fans of romance and comedy, HBO brings home Definitely, Maybe. Ryan Reynolds stars as a man in his 30s living in Manhattan. Caught in the midst of a divorce, his ten-year-old daughter Maya starts to question him about his life before marriage. She wants to know absolutely everything about how her parents met and fell in love.
Flashing back to the early 1990s, this charming and truly romantic comedy keeps the audience guessing as to who the little girl’s mother will be — college sweetheart Emily, the perplexing April, or intellectual Summer. Watch out for the film that features a powerful starcast, which also includes Isla Fisher, Elizabeth Banks and Rachel Weisz, on May 16 at 9 pm on HBO.
