Last Updated 26 July 2012, 18:09 IST

Most students who have been allotted undergraduate professional seats by the Karnataka Examinations Authority seem to either accept or carry them over.

By 8 pm on Thursday, 15,353 students selected choice No 1. That is, they have accepted the seats allotted to them and joined the selected colleges. Students who exercise this choice cannot take part in the casual vacancy round. They need to report to college by July 31.

The number of students exercising choice No 2 is 15,587. Under this choice, students can retain seats allotted to them and attend the casual vacancy round. They will have to enter fresh options for the said round.

They will have to accept the seats if allotted in the next round. The seats allotted to them under admission round will be cancelled automatically. But if they are not allotted fresh seats in the next round, they can retain the previously allotted seats.

A handful of students (934) have exercised choice No 3 under which they can relinquish the seats allotted to them in the admission round. They can attend the casual vacancy round.

Ninety-two students have gone for choice No 4 which means they are pulling out of counselling altogether. The figures may change as students can revise the choices till July 30.
