In a daylight robbery at the Great India Place mall in Sector 39 on Monday, three men robbed a man of lakhs of rupees and shot at a security guard and auto driver who tried to chase them.

Two of the robbers were overpowered by security guards while one slipped away, police said. Noida senior superintendent of police Pravin Kumar said the incident took place at around 3 pm when three armed men drove into the mall parking, robbed a businessman and tried to flee. When the victim raised an alarm, security guards deployed at the mall tried to stop the robbers, who opened fire.  A security guard was shot in his hand and an auto driver caught a bullet in his back. Passersby and other security guards rushed to the scene and overpowered the robbers. While the crowd beat them up, one managed to escape.  Two robbers have been arrested. They have been admitted to Vinayak hospital, where their condition is stated to be out of danger. However, the money has not been recovered as it was with the robber who managed to escape.  Police have launched a manhunt to apprehend the criminal while a probe has been ordered on how the armed robbers managed to infiltrate the mall premises. Congress comment Expressing concern over the broad daylight firing incident, Congress hoped Uttar Pradesh Government would get its act together to prevent such incidents in future.“Law and order situation is a growing concern of our times and we should relook at the gun laws,” party spokesperson Renuka Chaudhary told reporters in reply to a question.

“I am sure the government is getting their act together to ensure that these things are not repeated. It is not a comfortable situation. There is little we can do from here. We do express our concern and I am certain that they will get their act together,” she said.
