A police search conducted on Thursday at the residence of Fiza Mohammad alias Anuradha Bali, whose decomposed body was found a few days ago, has led to the recovery of Rs 92 lakh in cash and huge amount of jewellery.

Records of at least seven bank accounts have also been found. The huge recovery of cash and jewellery has left the police astounded. Now, they are looking to ascertain the source of the cash.

Fiza’s uncle, meanwhile, has been taken into custody for questioning as he is under suspicion for his role in the murder. Police had to use currency counting machine. The comprehensive search was conducted to prepare a detailed inventory of belongings that Fiza has left behind.

She did not leave a will that could establish the rightful claimants of her movable and immovable assets.

In fact, the police did not find any cash during the first two days after Fiza’s death. Currency notes in denominations of 1,000 and 500 were found. The former Haryana assistant advocate general had preserved all the SMS and messages sent by Chander Mohan on a CD, which too has been recovered.

Meanwhile, even as the police await the report of the viscera to ascertain the exact cause of death, the case has taken a curious turn with the information that Fiza had apprehended threat to her life. Sources said she was in touch with an advocate to move the Punjab and Haryana High Court seeking protection.

Fiza and four-time Haryana MLA Chander Mohan hogged the limelight in 2008 after both went public with their “love affair”, converted to Islam and eventually got married through Islamic rituals. Within weeks of their marriage, the couple spilt.
