BJP leader B S Yeddyurappa embarks on a tour of the drought-affected areas in the State from August 21.

He will be joined by party top brass, including Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar, his two deputies and ministers in charge of districts.

The full schedule of the tour programme will be finalised at the party’s core-committee meeting in Bangalore on Saturday evening. He will undertake the tour four days in a week covering six districts.

In all, he may visit 20 districts. M D Lakshminaraya, who became MLC with the support of Yeddyurappa, will accompany his leader throughout the tour which may last at least three weeks.

Addressing a press conference in Bangalore on Friday, Yeddyurappa said the tour would be held in two legs with each running for around eight to ten days.

The tour will start on August 21 at Tumkur. “District in-charge ministers, legislators and party workers will participate.

We will study the ground realities, understand the suffering of the farmers and take remedial measures,” Yeddyurappa said.
