A private complaint was filed in the Special Lokayukta Court on Thursday against Congress party MLA Babu Rao Chinchansoor, accusing him of possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.

The complainant, Shanthappa, a resident of Yadgir has filed the case against the Gurumithkal MLA alleging that the legislator, who began filing the details of assets and liabilities before the Lokayukta from 1997, has over the years consistently not mentioned the value of the property owned either by him or by his dependents.

The complainant says, the MLA indulged in concealing the true value of his assets and has undervalued the assets. “The accused possesses assets to the tune of nearly Rs 50 crore (in accordance with the market value), but the same has been undervalued.

It is also mentions that he  did not declare his ownership of a winery and details of an educational trust run by his wife. The complaint also discloses that 52 properties are in name of his daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren. The accused had purchased all these properties while he was an MLA and also a minister.
