Cong, BJP equally corrupt: Kejriwal

Describing Congress and BJP as "two sides of the same coin", activist and IAC leader Arvind Kejriwal today alleged that both the parties were "equally corrupt and deserve to be kept out of power".

"There is no difference between the Congress and BJP as far as corruption is concerned and the two are playing out a charade these days in Parliament on the coalgate issue," Kejriwal told mediapersons.

The days of alternating power between the Congress and BJP were over and both the parties should be kept out of power, he said.

On Sunday, Kejriwal and hundreds of erstwhile Team Anna supporters had marched to the residences of the Prime Minister and Congress and BJP chiefs to protest against the issue of coal block allocations.

He said that the manner in which those protesters were dealt with in New Delhi and Bhopal, had exposed the true face of the Congress and BJP.

"The IAC activists, who were staging a peaceful demonstration, were lathi-charged without any provocation," he said adding, the manner in which activists braved lathi blows without any complaint, augured well for their movement.

Kejriwal said that the movement would last as long as Hazare was guiding it. "If by chance, he (Hazare) withdraws from it, the movement would collapse within two days," he said.

He added that even people from remote villages in Himachal Pradesh were aware of Hazare and his movement.

Replying to queries, Kejriwal said that their new political party would be launched on October 2 and that it should not be difficult for the IAC to find 543 people, who were completely honest.

He claimed that nearly 15,000 people had given their suggestions in response to Hazare's call on providing political alternative.

He said that the government's Lokpal Bill was full of flaws, which deserved to be rejected outright. "There were many provisions in the bill which appeared to be more in favour of the corrupt rather than backing those seeking action against the corrupt," he said.
