Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday assured that the state will shelter the people fleeing from the violence-hit Assam and cautioned her detractors against fomenting riots in West Bengal.
“We will protect them and care for them. They are our guests,” Banerjee said at the foundation day programme of the Trinamool Congress Chhatra Parishad on Tuesday.
“Recently, I was Delhi to attend the UPA Coordination Committee meeting and there I have drawn the attention of the prime minister regarding the issue,” she said. She also claimed to have information on some people trying to foment trouble in the state.
