Two arrested for 'raping' minor girl

 Two youths, who were trying to flee after allegedly sexually assaulting a minor girl have been arrested in Mysore on Saturday night.

The accused have been identified as Vasanth, 24 years, son of Shekare Gowda and Chetan, 25, son of Venkatesh of Basavarajapura in the taluk.

The duo had extorted the girl and her lover Nayaz, a resident of Muslim Block in the town, at an agricultural field on the road that leads to Basavarajapura. They robbed Nayaz of Rs 1,000 in cash and a cellphone before threatening him to force flee from the spot. Later, the two allegedly outraged the modesty of Nayaz’s 17-year-old lover.

Acting on a tip off, the accused were intercepted by K R Nagar police in Mysore, when the former were trying to escape towards Bangalore. Police have booked them for rape, robbery and also murder threat.

Following the information, SP R Dileep, additional SP R B Mohan Reddy, Dy SP Siddappa and other officials rushed to the spot and took preventive measures.

Another incident

A youth has absconded after allegedly kidnapping and raping a minor girl in KRS police station limits in Mandya district.

In her complaint to the police, the 17-year-old girl of Haganahalli has alleged that Ganesh, son of Puttegowda, Hullukere village, promised her of marriage.

On August 25, he took her to Bangalore, only to have physical intimacy. He later left her.
A case has been registered.
