Trade union leaders, rights activists and intellectuals on Friday traced the reason of violence in Maruti’s facility at Manesar to the lack of “industrial democracy”.

Demanding initiative on the part of management of better industrial relations, they wanted  “repressive measures” to be withdrawn.

The convention organised by All India Central Council of Central Trade Unions(AICCTU) was attended by workers of Maruti and other industries.

Maruti workers accused the management of violating labour laws and said that it is not ready to improve service conditions like doing away with contract system. They said that relations deteriorated due to the refusal of the management to allow forming trade unions.

They  claimed that workers worked hard to get Maruti at the top, but the management is not ready to recognise them. They also accused a section of management of being involved in the killing of the HR executive.
