Petty quarrel: Man murders friend

A wordy duel that ensued between two friends ended with murder in the city on Thursday night.

Salman Khan (21) alias Patana, a resident of Al Karim School road near Rajivnagar here is the victim.

Salman Khan was stabbed to death by his friend Hameed of the same locality over a petty issue, according to Udayagiri police.

Salman Khan was a painter by profession, while Hameed was working at a shop dealing with cellphones and electronics.

Police said, the duo quarrelled over a trivial issue and assaulted each other.

Hameed in a fit of rage, rushed to a meat shop nearby and pulled out a knife only to stab his friend.

He later fled from the spot only to be arrested in the early hours of Friday near Fountain Circle on the Mysore-Bangalore road.

Snake bite

A woman died of snake bite while asleep at her house in C block, Mahadevapura, near J P Nagar in the city on Thursday night.

The deceased has been identified as Chandramma wife of Krishnappa.

The incident occurred when Chandramma was asleep around 10 pm.

Vidyaranyapuram police have registered a case.
