<p>The State-owned electricity supply companies have paid at least Rs 425 crore in excess to the Udupi Power Corporation Limited (UPCL) to purchase power, alleged Vidya Dinker, advisor to Janajagriti Samiti, a voluntary organisation.<br /><br />Vidya was speaking at a press conference regarding the alleged nexus between the government officials and UPCL, which has resulted in a huge loss to the State exchequer.</p>.<p><br />She said the documents procured by her under the Right to Information Act showed that without approval of the tariff by the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission, Rs 425 crore was paid in excess. </p>.<p>She has lodged a complaint with the Lokayukta police demanding action against the officials of the power companies.<br /><br /></p>
