A student of Hans Raj College approached Delhi Police after he found he was cheated of Rs 6 lakh by two admission touts who got him into an undergraduate course through forgery, police said.

The kingpin of the touts is already under judicial custody. He was arrested on August 30 in another fake admission case at Hans raj College.
Saaed Abdullah of Bali Maran in Old Delhi approached Maurice Nagar police station on Wednesday.

Abdullah said, “After clearing my class 12 examination, I was looking for admission in Delhi University. One of the seniors from my school, Raj, who is a student of English (Hons) in Hans Raj College, said he has some friends in the college who can arrange admission under the management quota.”

He took Abdullah to the college in June and introduced him to Sumit, who promised him admission under that quota for Rs 6 lakh.

After a discussion with his father Mufti Munis Husain and uncle Nadeem Kazi, Abdullah decided to pay the money. In July, Sumit took them to Kamla Nagar and introduced them to Ajay Dhalla who was handed over the money.

“Dhalla ensured me admission in Hans Raj College and took all my original documents. Later, Sumit called me to Kamla Nagar and asked me to fill up few forms for the admission,” said Abdullah.

On August 16, Abdullah was called to the college where Dhalla asked him to write out an application mentioning a fake address.  Abdullah then collected the admission receipt and started attending college regularly.

When he collected his identity card on September 10, he found that he got the admission under the Other Backward Classes (OBC) category. He then approached police and registered a complaint. Police registered a case of cheating against the accused.

“The main accused, Ajay Dhalla, is under judicial custody as he was arrested earlier regarding another fake admission at Hans Raj College,” said Sindhu Pillai, deputy commissioner of police (north).

Dhalla, a student of law in Delhi University, had been arrested along with his accomplice for duping a student from Rajasthan on the pretext of getting him admitted in Hans Raj College under the sports quota.
