Model UN summit in Manipal from Oct 1

Students from over 250 colleges across the nation expected to participate

Speaking to the media persons here at a news conference, MIT Director Brig Somanath Mishra informed that Model United Nations abbreviated as MUN is an academic replica of the United Nations which aims at educating the participants about various countries, developing effective communication and multilateral diplomacy.

Participation
Invitations have been sent to more than 250 colleges all over the country. As many as 200 delegates are expected.
Home Minister Dr V S Acharya will attend the closing ceremony of MUN Summit on October 4.
The event will be inaugurated by Customs and Central Excise Mangalore Commissioner Arvind Singh. Ministry of Finance Large Taxation New Delhi Commissioner Vijaya Kumar will be present, he added.
The Councils simulated at the MUN include General Assembly, Legal Committee, Human Rights Commission, Historic Security Council and Security Council.
The conference is a three-day affair each comprising 6 sessions during which all delegates shall discuss and debate various agendas, he said.

AEROFEST-2009
Jointly addressing the meet, MIT Joint Director Dr Radhakrishna Aithal and Students Welfare Assistant Director Dr A M Chincholkar informed that AEROFEST-2009, the fest promoting aviation amongst youth will be kicked off from October 1.
The ceremony is organised jointly by National Aerospace Laboratories Bangalore and MIT. Udupi Deputy Commissioner Hemalatha will inaugurate the fest.
Manipal University Chancellor Dr Ramdass Pai and NAL Advisor (M&A) and Head ALD Dr M R Nayak will be present on the occasion, they said.
Public Relations Assistant Director Srikanth Prabu, MUN General Secretary Pradeep Kumar and others were present.
