Australia waltz past New Zealand

Australia defeated New Zealand by 56 runs in a World Twenty20 practice match here on Saturday.

Batting first, Australia made 139 for the loss of six wickets with Shane Watson making 27. Matthew Wade hit an unbeaten 25 while David Warner and Glenn Maxwell made 24 each.
In response, New Zealand struggled to regroup after the loss of early wickets, eventually being bowled out for 83 in 17 overs.

Brad Hogg took three wickets while Clint McKay, Shane Watson and Pat Cummins took two apiece.

Australia’s next warm-up match is against England on Monday.

Afghanistan: 209/7 in 20 overs (Mohammad Shahzad 48, Asghar Stanikzai 50, Mohammad Nabi 51, Shafiqullah 26; Nuwan Pradeep 3-43, Kaushal Lokuarachchi 3-16) bt Sri Lanka A: 158 all out in 18.2 overs (Kosala Kulasekara 63; Dawlat Zadran 3-22, Mohammad Nabi 2-30, Samiullah Shenwari 2-28, Nasim Baras 2-34).
