Chikmagalur City Municipal Council (CMC) on Monday decided to send a delegation to Karnataka Urban Infrastructure Development and Finance Corporation (KUIDFC) Managing Director Harsha Gupta, to impress upon him to approve the single tender received for developing road and drainage under KMRP project.

A special meeting of the City Municipal Council convened on Monday, to receive approval of the Council members for three issues, the members unanimously agreed to send the delegation to the KUIDFC MD on September 24.

Speaking at the meeting which was presided by CMC President C R Premkumar, member Sridhar Ural explained the problem that will arise if the tender is cancelled now. In response, another member H D Thimmaiah suggested that it is better to take a delegation to the MD urging to approve the tender, as the cancellation of the new tender would delay the process of undertaking the work. Agreeing to the suggestion, the CMC President promised that the delegation would be sent to the KUIDFC.

Furnishing details about the tender process, one of the CMC official said that three package tender for the construction of road and box drainage was called as per the directions of KUIDFC. The accepted tenders were valued by a special committee. Once the committee gives its approval, the tenders will be submitted to the District Implementation Committee for further analysis, the officer said.

CMC member Chandregowda complained that the roads in the city were in a bad shape, following the unscientific method followed while laying the road.

On preparing action plan for Rs 20 crore sanctioned under special package, Chandregowda urged the President to ensure that the grant is equally distributed among all wards. When member Pushparaj lauded the State government for releasing funds for the city’s development, opposition party member Sridhar Ural quipped saying the CMC has received considerably good amount from the Central government too.

“Fund has been released under the special package for taking up the work on concreting of M G Road and for the development of Market Road,” said the President.

Meanwhile, the  City Municipal Council members approved the revised action plan under SFC project, tender received for CMSMTD project among others.

Higher Education Minister C T Ravi also attended the meeting.
