As the CBI subjected Arvind Jayaswal of AMR Iron and Steel Pvt Ltd to intensive questioning for the second consecutive day on Tuesday in connection with the coal block allocation controversy, his brother, Manoj Jayaswal also appeared in the evening before the agency for being quizzed.
“Manoj Jayaswal has been questioned today (Tuesday) at the CBI headquarters. Earlier in the day, Arvind Jayaswal was questioned again for almost 6 hours,” a senior official of the agency told Deccan Herald.
Arvind and Manoj, directors of AMR Iron and Steel Private Limited, a Nagpur-based company, have been named by country’s premiere investigating agency in its FIR filed on September 3 for alleged misrepresentation and concealing of facts to get coal blocks in 2008.
Coal Minister Sriprakash Jaiswal, also came under attack from the BJP after the Opposition sought to draw a link between Manoj and the Union minister.
Sriprakash, however rubbished BJP’s claims asserting that he had not recommended anyone’s name directly or indirectly for any undue favour.
The senior official of the agency also informed that the others accused in the coal block allocation scandal including Congress MP Vijay Darda are also likely to be questioned in the coming days.
Another senior official of the agency also did not rule out quizzing chief ministers of various states.
