Various organisations join stir against CRA's direction

Rally taken out from Lakshmi Janardhana Swamy temple to DCs office

The protest demonstration being staged in Mandya, against the Cauvery River Authority’s (CRA) direction to the state to release water to Tamil Nadu, continued on Tuesday with members of various organisations joining hands with the Jilla Raitha Hitharakshana Samithi.

Members of Jilla Mahilodaya Mahila Okkuta displayed empty pots and shouted slogans against Tamil Nadu chief minister Jayalalitha and prime minister Manmohan Singh. President Yashodamma, secretary K Jayasheela, treasurer D P Padma, Shantha, Sudha, Gopal, Stella, Philomena and others took part.

Federation of Muslim organisations burnt an effigy of Jayalalitha at K R Circle and took out a jatha till the deputy commissioner’s office, where a memorandum was submitted to additional DC Shankarappa. Ex-councillor Munavar Khan, Salim, Rafiullah, Farukh, Naved Ahmed and others led the protest demonstration.

President of Savitha Seva Samithi V Anjanappa, general secretary M S Rajanna, L Sandesh, Manjamma, Narasimhamurthy and members played their musical instruments and took out a protest rally from Lakshmi Janardhana Swamy temple to the DC’s office. Members of Jaya Karnataka took out a jatha from Silver Jubilee Park, formed a human chain at K R Circle and blocked the road for some time.

Shankaregowda, Keelara Chandru, Borewell Narayan, B N Jagadish and others took part.

Suvarna Karnataka Rakshana Vedike State president Ramachandru and district president Naveen Kumar staged a dharna along with members.

Seer of Gavimutt Sri Swathantra Basavalinga Swamiji, seer Sri Shantha Mallikarjuna Swamiji of Malavalli, MLC Marithibbegowda, MLA M Srinivas, ex-minister M S Athmananda, ZP member Vijayananda, ex-president Thagahalli Venkatesh, Raitha Sangha leader K S Nanjundegowda, Haniambadi Nagaraju and others participated in the dharna.
