Two IT firm staffers found dead

Last Updated 11 October 2012, 19:54 IST

Two software engineers were found dead, in separate incidents, at their flats in HSR Layout this week.

Police visited the ‘Shobha Daffodil’ apartments following a call on Wednesday from Wipro officials who expressed concern that a senior manager, Ravi Shankar Thakur, 42, had failed to appear for work for five days. Wipro officers said that Thakur was not answering calls to his cellphone or his home phone.

After police broke open the flat door, they discovered Thakur’s highly decomposed body.
A native of Bihar, Thakur had been working in the IT firm for the last one decade. Married for 10 years, he had divorced his wife three years ago. His wife and children lived separately.
Police said that he was suffering from depression and renal failure. Police also discovered empty liquor bottles next to the body.

Found dead

On Thursday, residents of an apartment at Sun City in HSR Layout called police to complain of a foul smell emanating from a flat.

When no one opened the door, HSR Layout police forced their way in and found the decomposing body of the tenant, Franklin Mendes, 35, a senior software consultant at IBM.

Mendes is a native of Thiruvananthapuram. Married for four years, he had separated from his wife a year ago.

According to police, Mendes spoke to his family on Sunday over his cellphone — following which no calls were made or received. The police discovered empty liquor bottles in the hall, near the body.

A preliminary autopsy conducted at the Victoria Hospital suggests that he died of cardiac arrest.

Mendes’ wife lives in Thiruvananthapuram with their three-year-old daughter.
