School van driver rapes minor student, held

A school van driver was arrested for sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl here, police said Sunday. It was the driver's third assault on the girl in 10 months.

Nitish Kumar, 22, a resident of Sector-9 in south Delhi's R.K. Puram, was caught Saturday morning by area residents near his house while he was assaulting his minor neighbour, police said.

"The accused has raped the girl twice earlier - in December 2011 and January this year. He threatened the girl of dire consequences if she revealed details of the incidents to anyone," said a police officer.

The accused works as a van driver with a private school while the girl studies in Class 5 in the institution, police said.
