Petrol, diesel prices to go up by 30/18 paise

Petrol and diesel prices will go up by 30 paise and 18 paise respectively following the government’s decision to accede to the petrol pump dealers’ demand for raising their commission rate.

Federation of All India Petroleum Traders general secretary Ajay Bansal confirmed the hike in the commission but said the government is yet to formally intimate them about the decision.
Official sources said the letter is expected to be issued to the oil marketing companies either on Thursday night or on Friday. With Thursday’s decision, dealers’ commission on sale of a litre of petrol and diesel will go up to Rs 1.80 and Rs 1.09 a litre.

Once the hike is effected, petrol will cost Rs 68.2 a litre and diesel Rs 47.13 a litre in Delhi.
This is the second hike in diesel prices after the sharp hike of Rs 5 per litre of diesel on September 13. Petrol prices, on the other hand, were slashed by Rs 0.56 per litre on October 8.

The petrol pump dealers had, however, demanded a commission of Re 0.67 per litre on petrol and Re 0.42 on diesel. Bansal said the government did not approve some of their demands as of now but gave hope of addressing them in a couple of months.
