Public chip in for relief operation

Political parties, organisations to collect materials for flood-affected people in NK

JD(S), under the direction by its State president H D Kumaraswamy, will collect the relief materials directly from the people.

District Unit President, Legislator G K Venkatashivareddy addressing the media persons here on Monday said that the party aims to collect an amount of Rs 25 lakh till October 9 and hand it over to the victims.

Teams have been formed for the purpose, headed by the party leaders, said former minister Alangoor Srinivas.
Zilla Panchayat president M Srinivas, CMC member Murali Gowda, C Muniyappa were present on the occasion.

BJP taluk unit president M Govindaswamy has said that party’s urban and rural units will start the collection on October 6.  District unit president S N Sriram, K V Jagadeeshwarachar, Pramila Mallikarjuna, Chalapati, Rauth Shankarappa and others will participate.

Raitha Sangha members P R Suryanarayan, T M Venkatesh, P R Naveenkumar, Krishnegowda, Veerappa Reddy have said that the sangha will go around the city from October 6 to 8 to collect the relief materials.

CPIM will also go to the doors of the people in rural and urban area from Oct 6 to 8 to collect the materials, said party State secretary J C Byareddy.
He has urged the government to call all-party meeting to discuss on the disbursal of the relief materials.

Chikkaballapur district

Residents of Bhagatsingh Nagar and members of Maha Ganapati Car Drivers’ Association, have come forward to send chapatis for the rain victims. Residents including women and children, under the leadership of teacher and social activist M Narayanswamy, are engaged in preparing chapatis form Monday. They aim to prepare 20,000 chapatis by Monday night and to hand it over the tahsildar by Tuesday.
