In the world of spices

Last Updated 02 November 2012, 13:29 IST

Friends Euro Restaurant in Koramangala, 7th Block has been around for the last 19 years and offers a unique experience. When you enter the small, dimly-lit eatery, you can’t miss the aroma of spices that fills the air, followed by the delicious and authentic food.

But what really strikes you about the place is how extensive the menu is. From Chinese cuisine to fast food items like burgers and fritters to Italian dishes like pastas and pizzas, it is all there!

“Our continental food has always been popular with the college kids and software professionals. In vegetarian, the most recommended dish is the posse, which is a paneer and mushroom shaslik in a curry sauce and served with rice. In non-vegetarian food, ‘chicken Alexandria’, made of chicken breasts and mushrooms is what regular customers swear by,” says Uday Kumar, manager.

Having served customers since 1993, Friends Euro Restaurant has had its fair share of changes, especially in its menu. “We’ve always tried to give what our customers want. Over time, some dishes have been added, some removed and certain items have stayed the same. Among the newer dishes, the chicken lasagna has to be the best one we’ve added,” adds Kumar.

He also mentions that their maximum sales happen on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, which is when people come to eat from other parts of the City as well.

What the place lacks in quick service is made up for in the quantity and quality of food served. A meal for two can be complete in Rs 200, which is not bad by Bangalore standards. If you opt for one of their special mocktails like the Southern Belle made of ginger ale and lemon or a fresh punch made of mixed fruit juice and rose syrup, the bill does get a little higher.

If you do visit it, do not forget to help yourself to one of their heavenly desserts, be it a simple ‘tutti fruity’ to a hot chocolate sundae. You just can’t go wrong with the freshness of their ice-creams mixed with nuts, caramel sauce, honey or whipped cream.
