JOIN USAn attempt to encroach the Vaderahalli Lake off Kanakapura was foiled with the arrest of a person, recently.
According to the sources in the Bangalore Metropolitan Task Force (BMTF), the police were tipped off that a few people were attempting to encroach the lake by dumping debris and soil into the waterbody.
On verification, the staff of the task force spotted people levelling the tank bund by dumping debris. The encroachers took to heels when they noticed the police.
Lorry driver arrested
However, the police, after a chase, arrested Channegowda, a lorry driver from Ganigerepalya of Talaghattapura. Three of his accomplices managed to give police the slip.
During interrogation, Channegowda disclosed the names of his accomplices as Jolle alias Prakash of Doddakallahalli, Rajanna of Basavanapura and others.
Channegowda told the police that he wanted to form sites out of the land and sell them.
