<p>Former prime minister H D Deve Gowda alleged that irresponsibility of officials of respective departments led to the breach of Hemavathi Canal near Narayanapur, Channarayapatna taluk. <br /><br /></p>.<p>At a press meet on Wednesday, he demanded an inquiry into the release of heavy amount of water into the canal against its capacity owing to political pressure. <br /><br />Mentioning about the loss of crops, he said, more than 400 acre of crops has been destroyed by the flood caused to the breach in the canal. <br /><br />Gowda stressed on formation of a team including tahsildar, joint director of agriculture department and other senior officers to inquire over the issue.<br /><br /> “Farmers should be immediately provided with compensation,” he said.<br /><br />He said, he would again visit the spot on November 16 and would request district in-charge minister who would be in the district on the day to visit the place along with him. <br /><br />Prior to this, he visited Hasanamba temple in the town and offered special puja to the goddess.<br /><br />Revanna<br /><br />MLA H D Revanna wished the JD(S) leaders who are quitting the party making false allegations at him. <br /><br />Reacting over the recent allegations made by ex-MLA Vishwanath and incumbent MLA C S Puttegowda, he said, it is common that those who leave the party would hurl allegations over its leaders. “May god bless them,” he said.</p>
