Hardeep did not intend to kill Ponty

Hardeep Chadha neither intended to kill his elder brother Ponty Chadha nor shoot Ponty’s accomplice Narendra Ahlawat, however, circumstances and rage led him to fire at both, said investigators. 

The crime branch team along with the Central Forensic Science Laboratory team on Tuesday recreated the incident to find the sequence of events that led to a shootout at 42, Central Drive in Chhattarpur on November 17 in which the brothers perished.

The police, along with ballistic and forensic teams, recreated the entire sequence of gun fight around six times that led to the conclusion that Hardeep didn’t intend to kill Ponty.
The investigating agency found that Hardeep was infuriated at Ponty for forcibly taking possession of two of the disputed farmhouses — 42 DLF Central Drive farmhouse and C-98 at Bijwasan in Kapashera — both of which were in former’s possession until then.

While both brothers were trying to settle the issue amicably with the help of family members and friends, Hardeep turned furious when he came to know that Ponty turned up at the farmhouse along with around 30 to 40 musclemen, including two personal security officers.

He rushed to the farmhouse from Noida in 40 minutes after one of his men called him to inform about Ponty’s arrival. He came along with his driver and found that Narendra Ahlawat was locking the gate of the farmhouse on the insistence of Ponty who was sitting in his car along with Namdhari.

He shouted at Narendra Ahlawat and reminded him of his earlier warning of not meddling in the brothers’ affairs. He later kicked Ahlawat. Meanwhile, Ponty came out of his car and shouted at Narendra — who was then lying on the ground — to lock the gates. Afterwards, Hardeep fired a bullet at Narendra on his thigh. 

Hardeep then went to Ponty and both had a heated argument between them. Ponty, meanwhile, kicked him with leg which made Hardeep to fall.

In a fit of rage, he fired at Ponty’s leg first but not on the upper part of the body.Now, the investigators are probing whether Namdhari fired at Hardeep that led Hardeep to pump bullets at Ponty and then went looking for Namdhari or Hardeep shot at Ponty before Namdhari fired at him. “We are investigating into Namdhari’s role as he seems to be key conspirator,” said a senior police officer. After that, the agency said that Sachin Tyagi fired three bullets towards Hardeep of which two hit him.
