A woman and her daughter who were in the City to attend a relative’s wedding were mowed down by a speeding train near Chikkabanavara Saturday night.
The dead have been identified as Preethi, 25, and her three-year-old daughter, Sindhu.
According to police, Preethi was married to Ramegowda, a farmer in Belur, Hassan district.
The couple had two children - a son and a younger daughter, Sindhu. The family, along with relatives, had come to the City from Hassan to attend a wedding.
They got down at Chikkabanavara Railway Station and were heading to the house of Preethi’s brother near Jalahalli Cross.
As Preethi was crossing the railway track holding Sindhu in her arms, the Solapur Express mowed down the duo on the track.
The bodies were shifted to M S Ramaiah Hospital. Yeshwantpur railway police have registered a case.
