Heavy rain due to the low pressure area over the Bay of Bengal disrupted normal life in the City on Tuesday.

Fog enveloped several areas of the City and severe traffic jams were reported on the KR Puram Bridge, Hosur Road, JC Road, Mysore Road and KR Market. People preferred to travel in four-wheelers during the rain, adding to the congestion on the roads.

Cold waves swept the City, turning the weather chilly. Many government offices and schools registered poor attendance due to the dank weather. The absence of the usual crowd during a weekday took a toll on commercial activities in the central business district.

Rain, coupled with the windy weather, brought the temperature down to below 20 degree Celsius. The Indian Meteorology Department recorded 15.1 mm rain till 8.30 pm.

The Department has predicted that the weather will remain cloudy in the next 24 hours in the City, with a few spells of rain. There were no reports of waterlogging or uprooting of trees.
