Probe against Telenor

The European Union and Norwegian authorities on Tuesday commenced a probe against Telenor on possible abuse of dominant market position and involvement in anti-competitive practices in Norway.

“The EFTA Surveillance Authority and the Norwegian Competition Authority have initiated an investigation against Telenor Norge AS and Telenor ASA regarding possible abuse of dominant market position and/or possible anti-competitive practices,” Telenor said in a statement.

Telenor is also the majority stakeholder in Indian telecom operator, Uninor. Telenor said it has strict internal rules and procedures on compliance with laws and regulations. The company said it will cooperate with the probe.
