Senior citizens, an ocean of wisdom

“The present day generation should strive for social development by making use of wisdom of senior citizens. The latter too should guide the young generation and lead the country on the path of progress,” he remarked after inaugurating a function to observe Senior Citizens’ Day here on Saturday.

President of Taluk unit of Government Employees Association, Narayana Reddy said that retired people are finding it difficult to lead life owing to spiralling cost of living.
He urged the  government to consider the demands of retired employees, sympathetically.

President of Retired Employees Association, Kagathi Venkatarathnam said that while retired employees at least get pension, senior citizens do not have any such social security measure.

The young generation is not looking after their parents in their old age now-a-days. This unhealthy trend has paved way for mushrooming of old age homes, he felt. Several senior citizens, rural students and teachers were felicitated on the occasion.
