Parliamentary secretary to the chief minister Mukesh Sharma on Friday said the Congress in Delhi will go on to break Narendra Modi’s third successive victory in Gujarat by winning the fourth tenure in next year’s Assembly elections.

He said BJP should not be too pleased over its hat-trick in Gujarat since it is not as significant as the one scored by chief minister Sheila Dikshit in 2008.

“Dikshit’s victory was well-covered by the international media, and her message of development reached across the country,” said Sharma.

“But BJP's victory in Gujarat has been achieved by politics of hate and division. It is not a real victory,” added Sharma.

He said Congress will secure 55 seats in the 2013 Assembly elections to take control of the city government for the fourth consecutive time.

He said the Himachal Pradesh Congress unit’s victory is a result of disseminating the development model of Delhi during the poll campaign.

“The people of Himachal Pradesh like stability, prosperity and development of Delhi. They came out in large number to vote for Congress as it gave an alternative, assuring fast development on the lines of Delhi,” said Sharma.

He said a large number of people from HP lives in Delhi, and they asked their families back home to vote for Congress.

Delivers promise

On whether he really believes that Congress will win in the national capital, Sharma said the foundation of BJP is based on false and scam-tailored propaganda, while the Congress government in Delhi has delivered what it promised.

“While BJP is in a mess with no agenda and no leaders, we will once again ride back to power on the basis of the work our government has been doing,” said Sharma.

“Under Dikshit’s leadership, the government has commissioned seventy-four flyovers, Metro, reliable public transport system, highest minimum wages and highest monthly pension to the aged and widows,” he added.
