Boat capsizes, 7 fishermen rescued

Seven fishermen who had ventured into deep sea fishing, were rescued by other fishermen, when the boat in which they were fishing capsized, about 23 nautical mile away from the shores of Someshwara beach.

The boat ‘Ashwil’ belongs to B Musthafa, a resident of Deralakatte. The boat had ventured into deep sea fishing from Mangalore port on December 19 and was returning when the incident occured.

The boat had hit a wreckage and water started entering the fishing boat.
The fishermen on board were rescued by fishermen from ‘Pundalika’ boat. The boat owner is said to have incurred a loss of Rs 30 lakh.
