Keen on exploring new territories

It’s that time of the year when holidays will come to an end and a whole new year will unfold for the engineering students of the City. Students are excited, relieved and looking forward to a fresh start.

The new semester in many colleges will see a host of new activities, some students are extremely excited about the cultural activities which will follow.

Niroop, a student from BMS College of Engineering, says that as soon as the college reopens, students will start discussing and planning the annual techno-cultural fest which the college hosts every year.

“The entire college comes together and plans the event. All the ideas come from the students and every year, we come up with fresh ideas and concepts. Our motive has been to take the fest to a new level every year. Since our fest is pretty popular, the work starts from day one and I am very sure that like every year, even this year the buzz will be planning for Utsav as soon as the college reopens,” says Niroop.
While some are looking forward to starting afresh, for many it will be special as it would be their last year in college.

Sunil, a student of JSS Academy of Technical Education says that it is his last year in college and the next six months will be special.  “I am in my final year and I have already been placed. I don't plan on pursuing
higher education for the next couple of years at least and hence, will try spending more time in college. These six months are the only time that I get to be a student.

So, I will make the most of it and want to enjoy every bit of it. From whatever I have heard from my lecturers, the eighth semester is the easiest in the engineering course. I want to score good marks and enjoy organising and taking part in the college fest. I am also hoping to get a big farewell party from the management’s side,” he says.

For many others, it will be taking up more responsibility. Susan Linda, a second-year student, will enter the final year and has high goals.

“I always wanted to be in the college executive body and now that I am in the final year, I will be filing my nominations for the post. This is my way of giving back to my college for whatever it has given me. These two years in college have been very memorable and special,” she adds.

The year will be packed with activities and most students are at the fag end of their holidays preparing to get back to the grind.
