Janata Dal (Secular) today said it would consider supporting Congress if the party moves a no confidence motion against BJP government in the Karnataka Assembly.

Speaking at a function in Theerthahalli near here, JDS state unit president H D Kumaraswamy said, "We will consider supporting Congress if the party moves a no confidence motion against the BJP in the Assembly."

Kumaraswamy said people of the state "were disgusted with the BJP and would be happy to see its end." He termed Speaker K G Bopaiah's "continued inaccessibility" to allegedly help the ruling party as a "black mark to the democratic system".

"The ruling BJP is set to de-value the office of Speaker in the state. When Shettar was the Speaker, the party forced him to accept the resignation of members in the guise of adopting 'Operation Kamala'. Now, it is banking on present Speaker to save its skin," he said.
