Two policemen were injured when a car, which they were chasing, rammed into their vehicle on Sunday at Outer Delhi’s Khanjawla area, police said.

The incident took place inthe wee hours of Sunday morning when a police control room van noticed that a rashly driven Accent car was heading towards it at a speed of over 100 kilometre per hour.

Told to halt

The PCR directed the overspeeding vehicle to stop near Sir Chotu Ram Polytechnic Institute.
The car accelerated instead and overtook the van, said an investigative officer.

The PCR chased the vehicle following which the car hit the police van from the side and fled away.

“Due to the impact, the police van lost control and rammed into a road divider,” added the officer.

“It was at around 4 am that we received a call that a police van met with an accident,” said the officer.

“We rushed to the spot and found two police officials injured and took them to hospital.”
Head constables Udaybhan, 47, and Satbeer, 58, were admitted to Sanjay Gandhi Memorial hospital and their condition is said to be out of danger.

“Both the injured police officials said they got injured while chasing the Accent car. They have managed to note down its number,” said the officer.

A case has been registered with Khanjawla police station. And search is on to trace the offending vehicle, its driver and other occupants, added that officer.
