In her message, the President said, "Let this year's festival bring peace, prosperity and communal harmony amongst the people and illuminate the lives of those who are in need of help."
Greeting the people, Prime Minister said the festival symbolises triumph of good over evil and brings joy and hope to the people all over the country.
"It is an occasion for strengthening the bond of friendship and goodwill between us. The festival inspires us to fight darkness in all spheres of life," he said.
Diwali is being celebrated tomorrow.
