Right time for action plan to fulfil dreams: Narayana Murthy

Last Updated 03 February 2013, 19:04 IST

Infosys Chairman Emeritus N R Narayana Murthy today said this was the right moment to draw up an action plan for realising an "aspirational dream" since India was receiving global attention for the first time in centuries.

"For the first time in the history of India in the last 400 years, India has received the attention of the world. Therefore, this is the right time to wake up and build an aspirational dream and an action plan to make such a dream a reality," he said.

He was addressing a gathering at the launch of Bangalore Political Action Committee (BPAC), a citizen's collective aimed at building a better Bangalore, here.

Biocon Chairman and Managing Director Kiran Mazumdar Shaw said, it was disheartening to see Bangalore's governance structure falling to low levels, coupled with a lack of accountability and indifference towards various issues.

"The onus is, I believe, on each and every one of us to take responsibility and become agents of change to bridge the governance deficit through concerted efforts led by a defined set of objectives," she said.

Former Infosys Director T V Mohandas Pai said one of the major strategic interventions of BPAC would be voter education and registration to maximise people's participation.

"We will also look to support candidates standing for electoral office. We will carefully screen candidates and endorse those who have an agenda that is in line with our Agenda for Bangalore," he said.

BPAC is being set up to promote quality life for each Bangalorean with an emphasis on good governance practices, integrity and transparency in all arms of the government.
