Last date to submit RTE forms extended

The Department of Public Instruction has extended the last date for the submission of admission forms under the Right to Education Act from February 5 to February 19.

The extension follows requests made by parents who are finding it difficult to avail caste and income certificates that are necessary while submitting the forms.

The change in the last date for the submission of forms has resulted in a revision of the schedule of events for RTE. The schools will now be required to submit the forms received to their respective block education officers (BEOs) by March 3.

The BEOs will, in turn, be required to send back the list of approved names by March 11. The process of admission of all the approved candidates will begin on March 15.

The Karnataka Private School Managements Joint Action Committee, a consortium of private school managements in the State, is reportedly not happy with the extension and will hold an emergency meeting of all its stakeholders on February 5 to decide on further action.

Teachers’ recruitment

The process of recruitment for the posts of teachers in government primary schools in the State started on February 4 and it will go on till March 2. The examination for the posts will be held on March 24.
