'Demented' carpenter sets self afire

 A 33-year-old carpenter set himself ablaze in his house in Seetappa Layout near Gayatri Mandir, on Sunday.

According to police, Rajkumar, who hailed from Salem, Tamil Nadu was living with his mother Sugunamma. Rajkumar set himself ablaze when his mother had gone to her native place.
The neighbours broke open the door and tried to save him. They called the police, who arrived to find him dead.

Rajkumar had poured kerosene over him and set himself on fire, police said. Rajkumar was said to be mentally unstable.

Cop dies of heart attack

Kemparaju, 56, police head constable, serving as a driver with the Central Crime Branch, died of heart attack while on his way home on Monday.

He was returning home after washing his vehicle and parking it on the office premises when he accidentally fell and suffered cardiac arrest.

Though his colleagues rushed him to a nearby hospital, he was declared brought dead. Kemparaju is survived by three sons.
