The examination was conducted in 77 test centres in Bangalore city and in 20 other cities across the State.
Each year a large number of non-Karnataka students appear for the entrance test to pursue professional courses at the State’s private institutions. While 50,210 non-Karnataka candidates registered for the test, the students from the State numbered 15,049.
Nearly 18 percent of the students registered did not turn up for the entrance test as compared to 2008 Comed-K UGET when less than ten per cent had not turned up. Five instances of impersonation was reported from the City while one was reported from Mangalore. Cases have been registered against the impersonators.

Red list

The COMED-K, at the time of entrance test, generates a ‘red list’ of candidates to evade possibilities of malpractice. Dr S Kumar, Executive Director, Comed-K said, “The Consortium generates a list of candidates each year from every centre while receiving the applications. The candidates who have not sent in complete details required for the test are included in the list. The candidates included in the list are given the instructions to resend the applications with the required data”. He revealed that about 80 pc of the ‘red list’ candidates have not appeared for the test this year, thus indicating the effectiveness of the system in screening the candidates.
The attendance for Physics and Chemistry papers stood at 83.02 pc while that for Biology and Mathematics stood at 88.68 pc and 81.02 pc, respectively.
Students found the Mathematics paper difficult and other subjects relatively easy. Sanjay Kumar, who appeared for the test said that Mathematics paper posed difficulty while the overall test was doable. An aspirant for medical course, Sanjay said that preparation for a series of competitive tests helped in tackling Comed-K test. Shweta who has appeared for CET and Comed-K UGET found the latter easy. She also said that except for the Maths paper, the other two subjects were easy to answer.
The  answer keys of the Comed-K UGET will be published in website www.comedk.org
