Election officers scrutinise nominations for ULB polls

1,027 nominations accepted in Kolar, 79 rejected in CB Pur

Election officers in the districts rejected nominations filed by candidates without suitable documents on Monday, which was the day for scrutiny of the nominations filed so far.

Saturday had been the last day to file nominations for the elections to the urban local bodies. Thursday, February 27 is the last date to withdraw the nominations and citizens are curious to find which and how many candidates will take back their papers.

Chikkaballapur

Of the 371 nominations filed for the Chikkaballapur CMC polls, 79 have been rejected by the election officers for being either instances of multiple nominations, technical problems or lack of proper supportive documents.

Kolar

All nominations in Kolar were scrutinised on Monday, the first day of scrutiny, itself.While there had been 1,259 nominations submitted in all, as many as 117 have been rejected and 1.027 nominations have been given a go ahead, said the election officers.Shidlaghatta

While a total of 154 nominations were filed in town, only 121 have survived the scrutiny; 33 were rejected.

The JD(S) has fielded candidates in all 27 wards in town while the Congress has kept away from only ward 5. The BJP has fielded 13 candidates, BSR Congress nine and KJP 14 in addition to the 32 Independent candidates for the municipal polls.

Malur

As many as 55 nominations for the polls to local bodies have been rejected in the town.Election officer Venkatarama Reddy told reporters here on Monday that a total of 187 nominations were filed for the election to 23 wards in the town. During scrutiny, 55 nominations were rejected.

Thus, 23 candidates from BJP, 22 from Congress, 23 from JD(S), two from KJP, nine from BSR Congress and 64 Independents are the fray. However, the final tally will be available only on February 27.

Kolar Gold Fields

Three nominations were rejected for the Robertsonpet City Municipal polls.

BJP candidate Vijay Kumar’s nomination was rejected for lack of B Form, while Chamanlal’s nomination was rejected as there was no clarity in the backward class certificate submitted with the nomination.

Prabhakar, who filed a nomination from Henry’s Ward, too saw his nomination rejected for technical reasons.

A total of 306 nominations are said to be in order so far.

Bangarpet

Nominations of 12 candidates, who had failed to supplement the papers with the B-forms, were rejected.

Election officer K Jayaraj said Rajesh Kumar of ward 1, Syed Rafi of ward 2, Wasim Akram of ward 3, B M Manjunath of ward 6, Nanjunda Gowda of ward 9, Muneer Ahmed of ward 15, B N Rajashekhar of ward 16, Sugendran of ward 19, M Nagaraj of ward 20, Saraswathamma of ward 21, K Harish and Balaji of ward 22 were the 12 candidates whose nominations were rejected on Monday.
