City government is considering to integrate G B Pant Engineering College, G B Pant Polytechnic and Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) in Okhla, said training and technical education minister Dr A K Walia on Wednesday.

“We are working to produce skilled manpower not only to meet the requirements of the industry but also to upgrade technical education. With this vision in view, the government will consider the demand for integration of G B Pant Engineering College, G B Pant Polytechnic and Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology in Okhla,” said Walia.

He added that it would facilitate exchange of faculty members, laboratories and library facilities resulting in widening of knowledge and information base. On the occasion of Golden Jubilee celebrations of the G B Pant Polytechnic, Walia stressed that city is a hub of education and knowledge and the government aims to keep creating new institutions and generate excellence in the field of education.

He said Delhi Knowledge Development Foundation (DKDF) has been set up to improve the quality of technical education by designing and implementing innovative projects. Students of vocational studies in the country would become the skilled workforce for the world in future, said the minister.

He also said the Delhi government was committed to bring in faculty reforms which include timely implementation of technical education schemes and filling up of vacant posts.
