Trace 'kidnapped' candidate, urges ex-minister

Former minister K Srinivas Gowda has urged the police to trace independent candidate Muniraju, who is said to have been kidnapped in view of elections.He has filed his nomination from the ward no 28.

Srinivas Gowda called on his family members at his residence at the Keelukote on Saturday.

Condemning increasing incidents of kidnap of contestants ahead of urban local body elections, he urged the police department to initiate measures to trace the leader.
The district had never witnessed such incidents earlier and the police should act swiftly, he said.

Srinivas Gowda was accompanied by leaders Byalahalli Govindegowda, Vakkaleri Ramu and Nagabhushan were present.

Relatives stage protest

Demanding that the police should initiate measures to trace Muniraju, an independent candidate from Ward no 28, who is said to have been kidnapped ahead of urban local body elections, relatives of Muniraju staged a protest in front of the town police station here on Sunday.

The protesters claimed that the incident has created a sense of fear among the residents here and threatened to boycott the election, if the police fail to trace Muniraju.

Rumours abound that Muniraju might have been kidnapped by his opponents.
‘Efforts on to trace him’.

Police told the protesters that already a kidnap complaint has been registered with them and efforts are on to trace Muniraju.

Muniraju’s wife Nagamma, Paramesh, Gangadhar and M Srinivas and others participated in the protest.
