'Steps being taken to repair bridge'

Last Updated 21 October 2009, 19:30 IST

The bridge, across the river Tungabhadra, was damaged in the recent floods affecting vehicular movement between Mantralaya and Raichur.

It is on the State Highway near Tungabhadra, a village in the border area.

The Chief Minister held a meeting about the bridge repair with PWD Minister C M Udasi and senior officers. It is said that at the meeting it was resolved to take up the issue with neighbouring Andhra Pradesh, as the bridge connects both the states. The State also decided to approach the Centre for financial assistance to repair the bridge.

Meanwhile, Yeddyurappa, who returned from Delhi with a ‘basketful’ of assurances, said his visit was not futile.  The CM said he was surprised at the response given by the Centre during his visit to Delhi.
