Assistant Commissioner G Anuradha has said that Nabard sponsored watershed development committees have been organising training programmes to provide information to farmers on integrated farming, mixed farming and organic farming. The farmers should make use of the facilities.

She was speaking after inaugurating a convention of district watershed development committees at Bukkambudi near Ajjampura, on Saturday.

Assistant director of agriculture Lokesh said “to get more yield, farmers utilise excessive fertilisers, insecticides and pesticides. The excessive use of fertilisers are harmful to the fertility of the land. The farmers should go for organic farming, to preserve the fertility of the soil.”

Nabard Hassan DGM H N Nagendra said that the ground water level has declined drastically. There is acute shortage of drinking water.

The farmers should grow fruits. Watershed development committee members of  Sakharayapattana, Begooru, Bukkambudi, Nidaghatta, Rangapura, Nagaralu shared their experiences.
