Man killed in mishap on his way home from hospital

A man who was being shifted back to his house from a hospital, was killed when the car he was travelling in was hit by a bus near Varuna lake on Mysore - T Narsipura road on early hours of Saturday. Six people including the family members of the deceased were injured.

The deceased has been identified as Mallaiah (54) of Banave, T Narsipura taluk in the district. Mallaiah was admitted to K R Hospital recently for suffering from multiple disorders.

The doctor had recommended for further treatment at a hospital in Bangalore.
Bhagyamma, wife of Mallaiah accompanied by her son Yogesh, daughters Poornima and Maheshwari and son-in-law Vijaykumar were shifting the patient back home in a rented Tata Sumo, when the tragedy struck around 5.30 am.

A private bus bound from Mysore to Sathyamangalam in Tamil Nadu rammed into theSumo, causing it to turtle.

Apart from Mallaiah who was killed, remaining six, including the Sumo driver Akbar Pasha sustained injuries.

Vijaykumar and Pasha are seriously injured and admitted to a hospital, while the remaining were treated as outpatients.

Police however said that the occupants of the bus claimed that Mallaiah was already dead and the family was shifting the body, when the mishap occurred.

Later, the police were convinced that it was a case of accidental death and a case was registered. The bus driver who was arrested, was later released on bail.
