An abandoned pair of shin guards near Delhi Secretariat on Saturday caused panic as it was feared that it may contain explosives.
Later, a thorough checking revealed nothing suspicious in it, police said.
The incident came to light when constables on patrolling duty spotted a suspicious looking object on the divider of the stretch close to Delhi Secretariat at around 9.30 pm.
A message was immediately flashed through a police control room van.
The area was cordoned off by police, and a bomb disposal and a dog squad were rushed to the spot.
However, it was soon confirmed that there was nothing to panic about.
“It was a pair of shin guards which is normally used by sports persons or physiotherapists,” said Devesh Chandra Srivastva, additional commissioner of police (central).
