'Beware of Industrial Training Institutes'

Last Updated 18 May 2009, 18:14 IST

While selection of suitable course and institute is a cause of concern, increased education fee structure is another burden for parents.
Admission for ITI courses too was not an easy task for those students who are academically backward. The admission to ITI courses also has become very competitive now-a-days since job opportunities in industrial sector is on the rise.
Though there are several government, aided and private ITIs in the district, some private education institutions take advantage of the situation and cheat students by opening unauthorised ITIs. For instance, some institutes name their centre as ITI - Indian Training Institute or any other similar names which resemble ITI. Such institutes collect huge amount as fees from students and distribute unauthorised certificates to them.
There are several instances where students were cheated by such fake institutes even when the State Directorate of Employment Training Department (DETD) warn people not to join in unauthorised institutes. Only those institutes which has authorisation from the National Council for Vocational Training (NCVT) or DETD can call their institute ITI or ITC.
The Central and State governments conduct examinations to students of such instititutes directly and ditribute certificate to them.
