Jolly, Rose to spearhead State challenge

The inter-State zonal championship will be held on Nov 3 and 4. Six zonal teams each in the boys and girls section will vie for honours in the two-day meet. Karnataka have failed to qualify for the meet.  The main draw of the National meet will be held from November 5 after the qualifying rounds which is scheduled for Nov 1 and 2. Andhra Pradesh lad B Sumeeth Reddy has been given top billing in the boys’ section while Kerala shuttler PC Thulasi gets the top ranking in the girls’ section.

Karnataka’s title contenders will be fifth seed K Prakash Jolly, and Jacqueline Rose Kunnath, the eighth seed. “From Karnataka’s point of view, Jolly and Jacqueline have the best chance to win the titles,” KBA Badminton Development Committee Chairman U Vimal Kumar said.
Competitions will be held for boys and girls in singles, doubles and mixed doubles. The championship has a total prize money of Rs two lakhs.
